Trippi, J. The Revolution Will Not Be Televised … Ch 11, 12, Afterward (pp 201-269)
Like last quartes Digital Economic course, my favorite reading of the class came at the very end. Joe Trippi explains the e-Revolution that has been roaring to a defeaning crescendo over the last decade and how it has effected the business world forever. Comapnies can either embrace these changes, or fall by the wayside. As someone who gre up in the rise of this digital age, it makes all of this an especially interesting read. I was not an observer in all of these changes, I was a guinea pig.
DONT BE EVIL
Trippi describes a marketing plan that companies now days would be wise to follow. Allow your customers to have a say in what you are sellling them (what a notion, giving people what they actually DO want to buy?), starting comunities that loyal users can engage in, and following an ethical doctrine that the American people want to see in its companies. Dont just not be evil, be good.
Companies that will adapt this “Power to the People” approach will be the ones that are successful in the Revolution. Just reading Trippi’s book makes me more and more positive that Microsofts reign of domination will end someday. Just like the people that doubted Television as a successful medium back in 1956, in The Beginning, I’m sure there are those out there who will never concede that open source operating sytems like Linux can overtake Lord Gates.
Don’t fight the Revolution, embrace it. The people will win in the end, so you might as well listen and be profitable before someone else pulls their head out of their ass and gives the people what they want. The example of the Recording industry vs P2P software like Napster is a perfect example of MILLIONS of dollars going elsewhere instead of just embracing a good idea. If Metallica cant beat it, trust me, no one can.
::REVOLUTION::
Its time to change
It cant stay the same
Revolution is my name
It will never change
So here it stays
Forever is my name
